About Us

SecondPlayThrough.com is a quasi-weekly gaming podcast centered around discussing the best of the best in the video game world.  The name SecondPlayThrough comes from the idea of looking deeper into the games we experience, often relating game principles and ideas to each of our lives.  Video games are fast becoming one of the most influential forms of entertainment and artistic expression.  We want to provide insight from the four different perspectives of four very different people on games that we cover.

Instead of plowing through a pile of new games each week, we focus on the most important games released throughout the year.  This way we can all explore the heart and soul of each game and come back with deeper unique perspectives from each of our gaming experiences.

Here at SPT we are all about the medals!  We wanted a ranking/review system that truly allows us to distinguish the best of the best.  We decided on medals, (which you can read about here) and by using this system we are able to award each video game a score we truly feel it deserves.

In the future we also plan to go back and revisit older/retro games and give them the full secondplaythrough.com treatment!  You can expect these during slower or down weeks... or just whenever it feels right.

We need your feedback to make our podcast better!  So send us an email (contact@secondplaythrough.com), drop us a comment, just get in touch with us somehow!  Your opinions truly mean a great deal to us!  Hopefully this is just the beginning of a very long life for SecondPlayThrough.com.  We hope you enjoy our podcast even half as much as we love making it, and... well, as Fish would say...

"...let our passion for games guide us." - SPT out

SecondPlayThrough is

Joshua Fowler

Josh is our entire IT department, manager and gopher; he tries his best to make us look good.  He lives in Bessemer City, NC where he enjoys adventure games and scouring the internet for talented indie developers.  A white-boy among white-boys, Josh plans to one day take over a small city-state wearing his Spartan battle armor.  Read more...

Morgan Barnes

Morgan is our ring-leader; when we all get taken down for public indecency, he'll have the largest fine to pay.  He lives in Great Falls, MT where he enjoys playing RPGs and cuddling with his Pokemon plush toys.  Morgan is SecondPlayThrough's host and cat-herder; he tries to keep our podcasts on track and out of incoming traffic.  Read more...

Shea Layton

The heart and soul of the SecondPlayThrough Facebook page, Shea joined the podcast in fall of 2010.  As "The Professor" here at SPT, Shea teaches Shining Force 101.  The voice of calmness and neutrality on the podcast.  Like Morgan, Shea also resides in Great Falls, MT.  Read More...

Former Hosts

Anthony Fisher

(Fish is on sabbatical in The Netherlands writing his screenplay for the upcoming Q*bert movie)
Fish is our deep-thinker; he lurks in the shadows at SecondPlayThrough, curing cancer or beating Tetris.  He lives in Fort Worth, TX.  He is a fan of games with strong puzzle elements, and melting faces with the Super Scope.  Fish is "the quiet host" which can only mean that Morgan will one day offend the Pope.

Adam Igwe

Adam is our big-idea man; he comes up with a lot of the ideas for us to chisel out in detail later.  He lives in Las Vegas and is a fan of RPGs and "man-drama."  Our resident black man, Adam keeps it real because Josh and Fish don't even know what that means, and Morgan tries and fails miserably with his Jew-fro.  Read more...
