Hey readers/listeners, my name is Joshua Fowler. I'm from the internets! (The series of tubes Al Gore built for Bill Gates). I don't really have a home town because of my dad's job growing up. We moved around to multiple states and countries; one of our homes was in Biloxi, MS, where I met Morgan. Probably my favorite home during my years living with my parents was in Utrera, Spain, where I developed a taste for wine, olives, and being electrocuted by faulty wiring.
I live in Central, SC with my wife Amanda, and daughter Josephine. Central is a towering monument of metropolitan life with three traffic signals, a population that fluctuates four-fold daily (counting Wal-Mart patrons), and a shotgun ownership rate of 1.84 per capita.
I'd like to say I'm more of a casual gamer, but that mostly out of necessity. I become a raging, antisocial sow rectum when I get addicted to a game. I enjoy most types of game play, although I prefer at least some pretense of a story. I was a pretty big Zelda fan growing up, and I still have a soft-spot for series. Creativity is what I value most in a game, edging in just ever so slightly above gameplay. (I can put up with some indiscretions for good story, art, music, or other gem to make it worthwhile.)
I'm SecondPlayThrough's designated techie. I edit the podcasts and make sure everything is formatted correctly. I also do most of the design and maintenance on the site. If you break anything on the site I will break you; I'll put you in a hole darker'n a black steer's tookus on a moonless prairie night.
As a rule of thumb, I'll be covering/discovering indie games for SecondPlayThrough. I've always held a special place in my heart for the small teams or individuals who have the dedication to get their content out there. Some of the most unique and inspiring games I've experienced have come from these smaller developers. If you know of an awesome independent game studio, be sure to leave a comment and let me know.
Some of my favorite games are: The Zelda series, Braid, The Ico series, The Final Fantasy series, World of Warcraft, Beyond Good and Evil, Prince of Persia, and Katamari Damacy among many others.
